According to WHO

Physical activity can be an effective strategy for promoting mental health and well-being and contribute to the treatment of mental health conditions.  A review of the evidence for the benefits of physical activity for people with certain mental health conditions – depression, schizophrenia and dementia – indicates improved mood, slowed cognitive decline, delayed disease onset, increased muscle strength, better physical fitness, control of existing disorders and a decreased likelihood of developing other disorders such as diabetes and obesity.

According to Mayo Clinic

Regular exercise may help ease depression and anxiety by:

  • Releasing feel-good endorphins, that can enhance your sense of well-being
  • Taking your mind off worries so you can get away from the cycle of negative thoughts that feed depression and anxiety

Regular exercise has many psychological and emotional benefits, they help in:

  • Gain confidence
  • Get more social interaction
  • Cope in a healthy way
